Makes about 3 dozen
8 oz. Cream Cheese (room temp.)
1 pkg. Oreo's (favorite flavor)
12 oz. chocolate for dipping
Sprinkles or garnish (optional)
Break each cookie in half and drop in a food processor or blender. Pulse the until you get a fine powder. I did this in batches, you don't have to though.
Put the crushed Oreo's in to the bowl of your stand mixer, and add the cream cheese and mix until well combined. Then use a small cookie scoop or tablespoon to form Oreo balls. Put on a plastic or waxed paper covered pan and place in freezer for 20 minutes or until firm.
Melt chocolate in the microwave, or as the package directs. Be careful not to over heat. Pull the Oreo balls out of the freezer, and dip each in the melted chocolate. Sprinkle garnish if using immediately, as the chocolate will harden pretty quickly and you will be unable to get them to stick if you wait too long.
Let chocolate harden for about 10-15 minutes before putting the truffles into a wax lined airtight container. And you are done!
Notes:
I store mine in the fridge until about 10 minutes before serving.
I have seen where people use 4 oz of cream cheese, I have not tried it, but I am sure they are still delicious!
